“Miso”

Miso Soup May Reduce Breast Cancer Risk by 61% in Women: That’s the risk reduction seen by women who consumed one bowl of miso soup daily throughout their adult lives, according to one of the largest-ever health studies carried out in Japan (on over 100,000 people for over 30 years). That’s a remarkable health benefit for a bowl of soup that has, on average, just 40 calories! But the health benefits don’t stop there: one bowl daily also cut women’s risk of cervical cancer by a stunning 66%, and their risk of heart disease by 31%. And importantly, these benefits were not seen with soybean consumption. Why? Miso is made by fermenting soybeans and rice, and the fermentation produces many unique, highly beneficial compounds (such as peptides) not found in soy or rice. Miso is so powerful it may even protect us from radiation (it increased the survival time of mice after massive doses of radiation). Miso is easy to take to the office in single-serving pouches, and makes a great low-calorie snack. So why not consider adding miso to a healthy diet rich in organic fruit, vegetables, and other whole foods?
